N.A. man pleads guilty to criminal domestic violence
-- Aaron R. Ware, 61, of Jefferson Davis Highway in North Augusta, was charged with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature but pleaded guilty to the lesser included charge of criminal domestic violence first offense and received a time-served sentence. Ware was accused of hitting a woman in the face and then threatening her while holding a kitchen knife in his hand.
-- Travis C. Johnson, 22, of Hewitt Street in Graniteville, was sentenced to six years under the Youthful Offender Act for the strong arm robbery of the Taqueria Reyes business in Graniteville in November. Johnson admitted to reaching over and attempting to take money from the register at the store, at which time another customer attempted to stop him, and both fell through the window of the business.
-- Levi Kitchens, 25, of Augusta, pleaded guilty to one count of breaking and entering a motor vehicle in December 2010 in North Augusta, and two other counts of the same charge were dismissed. Kitchens was sentenced to five years in prison, concurrent to a sentence that he is already serving in Georgia.
-- Curtis M. West, 37, of Croft Street in Aiken, pleaded guilty to grand larceny valued at more than $5,000 for removing more than 50 tons of aluminum from an Aiken facility. West was an employee of the facility and, over time, was responsible for taking materials valued at $120,000 from the facility, which he owes in restitution for the materials that were taken to Augusta and sold. West stated that others were involved in the theft, but his name was on the paperwork when the materials were sold. West was sentenced to eight years suspended upon time served and five years of probation. Codefendant Michael Wise, 36, of Windy Ridge Road in Trenton, was sentenced in December 2010 to eight years suspended upon probation for five years.
-- Thomas M. Harris, 30, of Fannie Lane in Warrenville, pleaded guilty to injury to real property, fixtures or improvements to obtain nonferrous metals for going into a building and attempting to remove stainless steel beams. Harris was sentenced to 60 days or a $200 fine.
