Polo game at new facility to benefit Aiken SPCA
A charity polo game will be held at Farmfield Plantation Sunday to benefit the Aiken SPCA.
The game's proceeds will go toward the building of the Aiken SPCA's Albrecht Center for Animal Welfare, said Alex Tyrteos, Farmfield Plantation. The 6-goal polo match is set to get under way at 2 p.m., and will feature eight local professional polo players including Matthew Fonseca and Luis Berizzi.
"We're trying to promote year round polo," said Tyrteos. "We're going to follow it up with other fundraisers on a regular basis. It's a great way for people to come out and support a local charity."
Admission to the game is $5, and spectators will get a hamburger and soft drink.
Farmfield Plantation is located on 213 Farmfield Road, and can be accessed off of Wagener Road, by taking a left on New Bridge Road, and then another left on New Holland Road, and finally a right on Farmfield Road.
