In Celebration of Eventing to honor Martin
A benefit for the Hitchcock Woods Foundation will be held at The Willcox on Feb. 27 "In Celebration of Eventing" from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The guest of honor for this year's event is upper level eventer Boyd Martin.
Sponsors for the event are Heidi and Charles Beaumont, Densey and Ronald Juvonen, Gretchen and Bob White and Sarah and James Wildasin.
Martin was a member of the U.S. eventing team for the 2010 Alltech Federation Equestre Internationale World Equestrian Games, where he finished 10th on the now 13-year-old, 16.1-hand chestnut Australian-bred Thoroughbred gelding Neville Bardos, who was the 2011 United States Equestrian Federation co-Horse-of-the-Year. Neville Bardos made a miraculous recovery from a tragic fire this past spring, and would go onto finish 7th at the Burghley 4-star 3-day event in the U.K. last September.
It appears Martin and Neville Bardos are on track for a berth on the 2012 U.S. Olympic eventing team.
The evening will include cocktails, a silent auction and music by 4 Cats in the Dog House.
Tickets are $75 per person, with $50 of the proceeds from each ticket going to the Hitchock Woods Foundation (which is tax deductible). Those wishing to attend should respond by Feb. 21.
