TalkBack: Reflective clothing, shop in peace and crime in Aiken

Reflective

Thank you, Aiken runners and walkers, for wearing reflective clothing and lighting. You make my neighborhood safer to drive at dusk or later. I especially enjoy seeing the blinking LED lights and the pet reflective gear. Do you really need to know which neighborhood? The Aiken Standard TalkBack section does have a viable purpose in our community.

Shop in peace

I can't see how anyone can bring their child to a grocery store and let them scream the whole time. Stick a pacifier in his mouth or give them candy. Just shut them up. You can't even shop in peace.

Not afraid

Finally, a judge who wasn't afraid of the drug dealers. It's good to see that the guy in Graniteville was getting 31 years.

Crime stats

How do Aiken's politicians plan to "sugarcoat" its appalling crime stats? Just how is Aiken going to attract retirees or prospective employees/transferees with Aiken crime skyrocketing the way it is? The politicians better start facing this issue ASAP.

Save money

I've got a little advice for those who leave their purses, laptops and whatever in their cars. Just don't lock the windows and doors. That way you'll save the expense of replacing the windows.

Horses, SRS

Leave the horse people alone. Horse people are what made Aiken what it is today, not SRS. SRS only has undone a lot of what people already have done to Aiken. So leave them alone.

Jobs

Will someone tell John Boehner we're not worried about birth control? It's jobs that we're worried about.

Aiken is safe

To the person who wrote that they don't feel safe in Aiken, Aiken is a safe place to live. If you don't like Aiken, move to Augusta where they kill people every night.

Slumlords

Slumlords are a major problem in Aiken County.
