MathCounts to be held Saturday
The regional MathCounts event for middle school students will be held at Aiken Technical College Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Teams and individual students will participated in tests during the morning session for the opportunity to go on the state contest. Around 1 p.m., the top 16 finishers on the battery of tests will participate in a series of one-on-one countdown rounds in an informal competition.
St. Mary Help of Christians School won the event in 2011. Other contestants this year are Aiken Area Home Educators, JET Middle School, Leavelle McCampbell Middle School, Mead Hall, Merriwether Middle School, New Ellenton Middle School, North Augusta Middle School and Schofield Middle School.
The contest is coordinated by the Aiken chapter of the S.C. society of Professional Engineers.
