Fugitive also wanted out of Florence
An Aiken fugitive who evaded arrest during a manhunt Wednesday is being sought by police for his alleged involvement in a kidnapping and armed robbery in the City of Florence.
Marion Tutt Jr., 19, of Green Road in Aiken, faces charges of kidnapping, conspiracy, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime and armed robbery.
He should be considered armed and dangerous, said Capt. Troy Elwell, an Aiken County Sheriff's Office spokesman.
Law enforcement officials are still actively looking for Tutt, who managed to get away from state agents and local law enforcement officers when they went to his Green Road residence to serve the warrants.
Florence Police Department issued warrants for Tutt and Keith Williams, 22, of Aiken.
Williams reportedly complied with law enforcement's orders and was arrested.
He was held for charges of kidnapping, conspiracy, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime and armed robbery and was later released to Florence officials on Thursday.
Elwell said a South Carolina Law Enforcement Division helicopter, several Bloodhound Tracking teams and multiple law enforcement officers spent hours around Green Road on Wednesday searching for Tutt.
According to media reports in Florence, one man has already been detained for a Friday night armed robbery and kidnapping.
Law enforcement sources said the Aiken men may be connected to that carjacking in Florence on Feb. 3.
James E. Murphy II, 19, of Cobblestone Street in Florence, has been arrested for a kidnapping that began when a man was carjacked in Florence at gunpoint.
Deputies in Marlboro County spotted the stolen car and made a traffic stop.
Two individuals exited the car and confronted the deputies at gunpoint, the Florence Morning News reported, and Marlboro County Sheriff's Office deputies reportedly fired at the suspects.
The men were able to escape, but Murphy was arrested, officials said.
At least one other man was said to be on the run.
Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact the Aiken County Sheriff's Office at (800) 922-9709. Individuals also should call CrimeStoppers of the Midlands: (888) CRIME-SC. Callers can remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of between $50 and $1,000.
