A Star in the making
Hussaar Sunset was a horse that found eventer Rebecca Joules-Cornetta. And although the horsewoman has had other off the track Thoroughbreds, the then 4-year-old gelding seemed to possess special qualities.
The two competed Wednesday at the Full Gallop Horse trials at novice level, and the rider has high expectations for the gelded son of Saarland.
"I brought him up from beginner novice," said Joules-Cornetta. "He's probably the nicest horse I've ever had. I'm pretty lucky to have him."
An encouraging performance Wednesday seems to suggest the future is full of promise for Hussaar Sunset.
"His dressage test was very good," said Joules-Cornetta. "I loved the (cross country) course. I thought for a horse like this, who's young, needs confidence and is just starting out, it (the cross country course) did a good job. It was challenging for a young horse in a good way."
The horse/rider combination went clean in stadium jumping, and the scopey, good mover, had no problems clearing the obstacles.
Hussaar Sunset, whose known around the barn as Star, appears to have great potential, and the talent to go as far as he wants to, said Joules-Cornetta.
"In my opinion, he's definitely going to be a superstar," said Joules-Cornetta. "I'm lucky to have so many incredible professionals who live (Unionville, Pa.) around me that I'm able to work with, and they believe he should be doing training level very soon."
