LETTER: Thanks for support for show
The Aiken Center for the Arts has enjoyed another very successful fund-raising event, Antiques In the Heart of Aiken Show and Sale. The success of this year's show is directly related to the more than 150 community volunteers who participated on 25 committees and to the quality antique dealers who participated in the show, many of whom have been with us for all 13 years. Kristin Brown and her staff at Aiken Center for the Arts, the center's board, the local businesses, sponsors and those in the community who attended the event also contributed immensely to its success.
The performance of vocalist Alexis Aime and her accompanist Dr. Louis Playford, at the Preview Party with its theme "Uptown Down South" was a special treat for party-goers. The party offered great food, decadent desserts and champagne.
A special thank you goes to Barbara Sue Brodie, Becky Robbins and Lisa Castles for their vision and determination in establishing this Aiken tradition 13 years ago.
Through the efforts of so many, the Aiken Center for the Arts is able to provide art education and cultural events for the community. In the past year, the center held 48 gallery exhibitions, provided 100 scholarships for children and adults and offered 200 programs. This event helped fund those.
Thank you so very much to everyone who gives back to this community and especially to those who support the Antiques In the Heart of Aiken Show and Sale for the benefit of the Aiken Center for the Arts.
