Murder suspect Parker arrested in Georgia
A New Ellenton fugitive who faces murder and weapons charges in connection with the death of an 18-year-old New Ellenton man in Aiken County was arrested in Pooler, Ga., late Thursday, officials said.
Christopher Nathaniel Parker, 24, of 143 Milion Ave., has been charged with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime, said Aiken County Sheriff's Office Capt. Troy Elwell.
"Late (Thursday) afternoon, authorities with the U.S. Marshals Office, South Carolina Law Enforcement Division and authorities in Pooler, Ga., took Parker into custody without incident," Elwell said.
Parker will be held at the Chatham County Jail until he can be extradited back to Aiken County.
The captain said "good police work" and information obtained during the investigation led investigators to Parker.
Earlier this week, deputies arrested Marrio Sherard Parker, 31, of Nondron Street in Aiken, and Pebbles Nichole Moyle, 28, also of Nondron Street in Aiken, on allegations they were accomplices in the Jan. 27 murder of Huran Akil Dix, 18, of Aiken.
They have been charged as accessories after the fact to murder.
Dix's body was found buried in the woods off Dry Branch Road in Aiken on Jan. 27.
It appears that Parker killed the victim, who was shot once in the back, for stealing an income tax check, investigators said.
Elwell said Marrio Parker helped Christopher Parker hide Dix's body after the murder, and Moyle helped him hide from law enforcement following the murder.
"(Moyle) knew about what (Christopher Parker) had done, and she knew about the murder, but she still helped hide (Christopher Parker) at various locations after the arrest warrant had been issued and his name had been released," Elwell said.
Moyle allegedly helped Christopher Parker move to multiple hotels in Aiken County and Richmond County, Elwell added.
Marrio and Christopher Parker are brothers, and Moyle is Christopher Parker's girlfriend.
Marrio Parker was arrested at the Aiken County Sheriff's Office and is being held at the Aiken County detention center.
Moyle was arrested on a bench warrant in Richmond County and will be held for Aiken County.
