LETTER: Comments on LeVine's column

Jack LeVine's description of California may be fair. I lived in Los Angeles and vicinity for more than 10 years and what LeVine forgot to mention is that California was a beautiful place in most ways until Ronald Reagan took over as governor and the downward spiral began. Fortunately, South Carolina never had progressive leadership and thus it has no place to slide and can merely wallow in political despair and relatively low real estate prices. Luckily, South Carolina does have a good climate and can attract retirees who wrote letters to the editors talking about good things that could be.
