TalkBack for Jan. 25: GOP calling, crooks, gun licenses

GOP calling

I agree with the one who called about Republicans calling your home. They call all the time. I'm sick of them, too. I don't have time to listen to it.

'Red Necks R Us'

While driving on Wednesday, I noticed that not only are local drivers reluctant to use their turn signals when turning or changing lanes, many also don't turn on their headlights when it's raining so that others can see them more easily. I asked my friend at work about this (he is a lifelong Aikenite), and he said turn signals and headlights were Yankee inventions and possibly illegal in South Carolina. According to him, native Aiken drivers can be stopped and cited by the local chapter of "Red Necks R Us" for using these Yankee gimmicks in the manner I suggested. He also said the BMWs manufactured in Spartanburg don't come with turn signals as standard equipment unless they're destined for export. Can this be true?

Crooks

I would vote for Oprah Winfrey before I'd vote for these old crooks trying to run for president nowadays.

Gun licenses

To the licensed concealed weapon carriers in South Carolina: Florida is a better additional license choice than New Hampshire. Hopefully, Congress will approve a National Carry license, until then, I will possess a S.C. and Florida CCW license. I support knowledgeable licensed carry; it increases personal responsibility.

Tired of trash

I am tired of trash. I volunteer for three organizations, each four times a year. Twelve times a year I pick up trash for slobs too lazy to use a trash can, and I will complain. For those smokers too ignorant to realize their cigarette butt is litter, I have a good recommendation on where you can put it instead of out your window. The only ones who don't complain about trash are those too stupid to use a trash can or those who don't volunteer. Come to think of it, Bud Light and the cigarette companies should add the cost of cleaning our roads to their beer price, and I don't mean 10 cents to recycle. Go pick it up.
