Man recovering step at a time from virus ailment
ORLINDA, Tenn. — A Middle Tennessee man doesn't remember the mosquito bite that infected him with the West Nile virus. But Robert Allen recalls every faltering step on his road to recovery.
Allen, who lives in Orlinda near the Kentucky border, told WTVF-TV in Nashville he went from a tingling in his foot to not being able to use his left leg, all within three weeks (http://bit.ly/yaDyyJ).
He began showing symptoms in September, for a time, had to use a walker. Allen has now recovered and is back at work, but still walks with a limp. He said it still hurts, but he's determined to be back to health by the time his son's baseball season starts.
Allen insists members of his family wear insect repellant containing DEET when they go outside.
