NAHS baseball set to start at tourney
North Augusta High School has released its 2012 baseball schedule, and the Yellow Jackets are to be on familiar turf for their first few games, playing at Midland Valley in the Mustangs' annual season-opening tournament.
Victor Radcliff is back as the Yellow Jackets' head coach, with son Victor Radcliff back as an assistant coach, continuing the tradition of "Big Vic" and "Little Vic" helping guide the program.
The Jackets' action at Midland Valley is to be Feb. 24, vs. Aiken; Feb. 24, vs. Battery Creek; Feb. 28, vs. Barnwell; and March 1, vs. Greenwood. The tournament championship will be held March 3.
The squad's first home game is set for March 6, with Lexington as the visitors. Riverview Park, which is the Jackets' home turf for baseball and softball, will include at least two new features this season for the Jackets. A new scoreboard is to be installed this month, via the North Augusta Yellow Jacket Club, and the infield is being renovated through revenue from the high school's athletic department.
