Both Jacket squads stumble vs. Bruins
North Augusta High School ended its first round of Region 5-AAAA basketball games on a pair of rough notes Friday evening, losing both of its games at Orangeburg-Wilkinson.
The opener had North Augusta's girls sustaining one of their worst beatings in recent history, to the tune of 61-19, dropping North Augusta to a record of 14-4 overall and 3-2 in region play.
The second contest went to the Bruins by a score of 56-46, dropping North Augusta's boys to 11-7 overall and 2-3 in the region. North Augusta had built a 25-14 lead by halftime, but was outscored in the third quarter 28-11 and could not recover. T.J. Sheppard led the Yellow Jackets in scoring, with nine points.
Home action over the next few days is to be Friday vs. Lexington and Tuesday against White Knoll, with the girls' games starting at 6 p.m. and the boys' action to follow.
