The Yelllow Jackets' Vinny Miller is Charleston-bound, continuing the momentum he has built as one of the CSRA's most versatile, highly honored prep football players.

The senior, who racked up 2,704 rushing yards and 208 receiving yards for North Augusta High School this season, confirmed his plans to attend The Citadel, as announced Saturday evening at the football team's annual awards banquet. The arrangement was described as a verbal commitment.

Referring to the Bulldogs, Miller said, "They have a great, great program, and ... it's starting to get into gear lately. I've seen a few of their games, and I like that they run a ball a lot."

"I think he's the ultimate team player," said Dan Pippin, the Jackets' head coach. He pointed out that Miller, as a junior, served the team as a linebacker without complaining ("even though he could have played running back") because it met a need for the team.

Pippin added that Miller also got attention from Presbyterian College, Georgia Southern University, and Kent State University.

As a senior, Miller carried the ball 353 times, averaging 7.7 yards per haul, and racked up 36 touchdowns in the process. He also served the Yellow Jackets as a punter. He is listed at 5-foot-10 and 203 pounds.

Bob Bolton, who handles the sideline reporting for radio broadcasts of NAHS football games, said, "I think he is probably one of the best running backs - and the toughest - that I have ever seen. I mean, he is phenomenal when he has the ball, and when he doesn't have the ball, he's blocking for somebody. I notice every time I interview him, he always gives credit to God and always gives credit to the offensive line."
