Garden Clubs Council holds traditional tea
Last Saturday saw the return of a long-standing tradition with North Augusta Council of Garden Clubs - a tea and fashion show.
The Council once held a tea and fashion show each spring, but for the last couple of years the event was not held.
This year, members of the various North Augusta garden clubs once again prepared traditional fare for an afternoon tea, poured raspberry tea from silver pots, and Coldwater Creek provided the fashions, with help from members of the Garden Clubs Council who modeled the clothes.
Jean Timmons, who chaired the tea event, welcomed the many guests and then gave special attention to two of the Council's own. She introduced Audrey Watson and Martha Claire Farmer as members emeritus, noting that Farmer had at one time been the S.C. Garden Club Council president.
Karen Oliver, president of the North Augusta council, likewise welcomed everyone and noted that this year's district meeting is coming up March 28 in Aiken. She also reminded the group that the North Augusta council will host the Garden Clubs Council district meeting in 2013.
Oliver also pointed out Linda Bowen. "She has done more to educate and facilitate the enjoyment of roses," declared Oliver.
The North Augusta council will take part in a plant sale during the Yellow Jessamine Festival in Aiken.
