N.A. Camellia Show to be held on March 3
The seventh annual North Augusta Camellia Show will be held on Saturday, March 3, at the Riverview Park Activities Center. The show is sponsored by the Aiken Camellia Society, and will be open to the public from noon to 5 p.m.
The public is invited to enter blooms in the show, and Society members will be available to assist with bloom entry and identification. Information on camellia propagation will also be available.
The public is invited to enter blooms in the show from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. on March 3. There will be assistance in identifying and entering the blooms. (Those that cannot be identified, will be entered in the class "Unknown."
A hands-on judging will begin at 11 a.m. under the direction of accredited judges. Others wishing to participate in the judging need to be present by 10:30 a.m.
Then from noon to 5 p.m. the show will be open for public viewing. There will be available a general information table relating to camellia propagation and camellia care.
At 1:30 p.m. Roy Kibler, horticulturist for the City of North Augusta will speak on "Horticulture Activities in North Augusta." He will review current and future horticultural activities in North Augusta.
Blooms will be classified by size and species of camellia as well as by whether they were grown outdoors or in a greenhouse, and awards and certificates will be presented to the winners of the various classes.
