NAMS News for Feb. 16-22
With one semester down and one semester to go, North Augusta Middle School is buzzing with clubs and sports. The Art Club has big plans to decorate various places around the school with creative pieces and Jacket pride. The Stand Up and Stop Bullying club has started for the first time. The guidance department sponsors this club to promote empathy and kindness. The induction ceremony to the eighth grade Beta Club will also take place this month. The Beta Club is an elite group specifically for eighth grade students with excellent grades and intent to volunteer around the community.
The biggest nonclub news in school is the return of eighth grade student, Hannah Bonham. Earlier this year, Hannah had a stroke during a surgery and the entire left side of her body was paralyzed. Now, she is walking through the school with friends by her side and a bright smile on her face.
A few weeks ago, four students competed in the Future City Competition, a prestigious national competition that is held during Engineers Week. These four students competed in the regional competition consisting of 33 teams from South Carolina and Georgia. Jordan Houston, Catherine Powell, Sara Tyrrell and Camara Brown won third place.
The girls' basketball team is the pride of the school with their season record of 13-1 and their appearance in the county championship game. Come support them as they lead our school to victory!
There you have it, the news for NAMS. Keep an eye out as we continue on through our successful year.
