Patriot's pride
"Boom!" The drum sounds.
Everyone is silent as they listen to the wondrous music that fills the air above them. They listen in appreciation as the Paul Knox Middle School band plays "Louie-Louie."
I interviewed the band member Christine Scott. Here is what she had to say about band: "I find it rather fun and exciting; Mr. Workman does a great job at helping us learn how to play our instruments."
Mr. Workman is the band teacher. He helps each of the band members individually when they are learning to play their instruments or if they have a problem or question.
Julia Smith, who participates in band and plays the flute said, "I really like band."
The flute is not the only instrument available in the Paul Knox band. There is the saxophone, trombone, tuba, recorder, trumpet, and many more.
The Paul Knox band participated and played in every home game during the football season; this helped cheer on our cheerleaders and our team. In fact, our band is probably the No. 1 reason for the outrageous excitement shown at Paul Knox pep rallies. They play modern songs like "We Will Rock You" and "Thriller."
The seventh and eighth grade Paul Knox band members will be taking a field trip to Julliard in Aiken. While there, they will see many varieties of arts, such as music, acting and dance/performance. Many said they can't wait for such an exciting field trip. He also wanted to note that they will be participating and playing in an upcoming concert festival. Thanks to our Paul Knox Middle School band and our band leader, Mr. Workman, for doing such an outstanding job.
