Dr. Steve Parr will be the guest speaker at a First Baptist Church Sunday School Leadership Dinner on Thursday, Feb. 2, beginning at 6 p.m. in the church fellowship hall.

St. Paul to hold Mardi Gras dinner, dance
The fourth annual Mardi Gras party on the river will be held on Friday, Feb. 17, at 7 p.m.
There will be food, live music and dancing.
The Paul Roberts All Star Band returns to the River Room, 605 Reynolds St., Augusta, in response to popular demand.
The room will be decorated in Mardi Gras glitz and glamour for the occasion. Traditional New Orleans cuisine will be served.
All proceeds will aid those in the community who are unable to provide food security for themselves and their families.
Tickets are available from Outreach members, from the church office (706) 724-2485, online at www.saintpauls.org and at the door. No host wine and beer will be available. A costume is optional.
Women's conference at Mt. Transfiguration
Mount Transfiguration Baptist Church will host a women's conference, "Return to the Well in 2012."

Souper Bowl Sunday at Fairview Presbyterian
Fairview Presbyterian Church will host a Souper Bowl Sunday lunch on Feb. 5 at noon in the church fellowship hall.
There will once again be a chili cook-off. (Chili must be delivered to the fellowship hall before the 11 a.m. service so there will be time to choose a champion.
Along with the chili, there will be soup and sandwiches.

Fairview collecting old glasses through Feb. 12
Fairview Presbyterian Church's medical team is looking for reading glasses and used prescription glasses to distribute to patients attending the clinics they will be holding in Santa Elena and Los Pinos, Honduras.
The items are asked to be dropped off at the church by Feb. 12.

Belvedere First Baptist Church is collecting items for Operation Send Care.

The Lutheran Men of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church will have a pancake supper on Shrove Tuesday, Feb. 21, at 6:30 p.m.

'Some Enchanted Evening' coming up
Trinity on Laurens, the Lutheran senior community in downtown Aiken, will host its major fundraising event of the year, Some Enchanted Evening, on Friday, Feb. 24, beginning at 6 p.m. at the Aiken Center for the Arts. There will be food, spirits, music and a silent and live auction. Funds raised support Trinity's endowment, which helps Trinity offer a limited financial grant program to deserving residents.

Lydia Project cutting project
The Lydia Project will host a cutting day at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church on Saturday, Feb. 25, beginning at 9 a.m. in the fellowship hall.
Jobs include cutting bags, linings, tops and pockets; writing notes of encouragement; organizing packets as bag cuttings are completed; and possibly cutting purple handles.
The Lydia Project cutting day is combined with the normally scheduled Loaves and Fishes quilting day once every six weeks.
Concert to be at Mt. Transfiguration

Italian Cafe returns to Holy Trinity
On Saturday evening, Feb. 25, the youth at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church will host the Italian Café.
This is a fundraising event for the upcoming ELCA National Youth Gathering which will be held in July in New Orleans.
The meal will consist of spaghetti with homemade sauces, lasagna and fettuccine, as well as a side salad, Italian bread, drinks and desserts.
Women's Book Club to meet

The Apples of Gold Bible study at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church now includes 19 women.
The group's first session was spent getting to know one another and sharing food and fellowship.
The remainder of the sessions will be Feb. 12, Feb. 26, March 11, March 25, April 15 and April 21. Anyone interesting in joining the Bible study can meet at 5:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall on those dates.
'Camp-In' for kids at FBC
First Baptist Church, North Augusta, will hold a "Camp-In" for grades 1 through 5 on Friday, March 9, beginning at 6 p.m. through Saturday, March 10 at 8 a.m.
Dinner and breakfast will be provided. There will be games, a movie and a glow-in-the-dark tag.
