Planners to hold study session, no meeting

The North Augusta Planning Commission has canceled its Thursday meeting due to lack of projects and applications to consider; however, the group will hold a work session beginning at 6:15 p.m. today in the Planning and Economic Development conference room on the second floor of the North Augusta Municipal Center.

The study session will focus on current and future or potential developments, text amendments and development issues, as well as the 2015 comprehensive plan.

The next regular meeting is scheduled for March 15.

Horse trail ride to be

offered on March 10

The Silver Bluff Audubon Center and Sanctuary will host an Audubon Horse Trail Ride on Saturday, March 10, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The cost is $25 per person with all proceeds benefiting the environmental education programs at Silver Bluff.

Those participating will be able to ride along the Savannah River and the wooded trails of the Audubon Center. It is a seven-mile trail. Lunch is provided.

Homeowners to meet in Andrews Branch

The annual meeting of the Andrews Branch Home Owners Association will be held at the Public Safety Station No. 2 on Five Notch Road at 3 p.m. on Sunday.

The board is celebrating the fact that all members (79 households) of the association have maintained 100 percent participation for the last eight years.

S.C. Silver-Haired

Legislature to meet

The Lower Savannah Caucus of the S.C. Silver-Haired Legislature (SHL) will meet Feb. 29 at noon in the Sundial Cafe (Gail Reyes Senior Center), 10913 Ellenton St., Barnwell.

The SHL attempts to identify issues, concerns and possible solutions for problems facing the aging population of South Carolina.

Anyone 60 or older and a registered voter is eligible to be a SHL representative. Aiken County needs five senior representatives.

Sno-Cap resumes

FUNraising events

Sno-Cap Drive-In continues its focus on local charities with FUNraising on Monday and Tuesday each week.

During February, Monday night FUNraising's host is Cub Scout Pack 7, and Tuesday daytime FUNraising will be hosted by the North Augusta Junior Women's League.

The last Saturday of this month is the regular fourth Saturday Cruise-In from 4 to 6 p.m. Hosted by GaSCar and sponsored by C&C Automotive, the proceeds of the cruise-in will benefit the VA Fisher House. There will be music, food, fun and fellowship.

Conversational Spanish class being offered
