Brittany Cross takes first place in essay contest

The North Augusta Optimist Club recently held an awards dinner for the winners of the annual Optimist Essay Contest.
The topic of this year's 700-word essay was "How My Positive Outlook Benefits My Community."
The winner, Brittany Cross of Fox Creek High School, will now compete for a $2,500 scholarship at the state level.
During the meeting recognition and awards were given to the three winners. In addition to Cross's first place essay, Mary-Louise Pawlowski, also of Fox Creek High School, took second place, and Ramsey Whitley of North Augusta High School was the third place winner.
