Women Engineers plan career fair, panel
The Central Savannah River Area Society of Women Engineers, with URS as a major sponsor, is hosting a mini career fair and panel discussion Jan. 23 featuring local engineer and technology employers.
The public event, held at the URS Center for the Performing Arts, will reveal what happens behind the scenes in Technology and Engineering industries and what type of person it takes to work in these fields.
The career fair will be held before the panel discussion from 5 to 6:20 p.m. URS, Value Added Solutions, Bridgestone, Kimberly Clark, RCS Nuclear, and Shaw AREVA MOX Services and more will have booths. The event will be free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided.
The panel discussion from 6:30 to 8 p.m. will be on engineering and technology in the CSRA. The panel will be composed of prominent professionals in the engineering and medical technology field from the community. Panelists include: Cheryl Cabbil (URS), Dr. Lynnette McCluskey (Georgia Health Sciences University), Kim Cassara (Savannah River Remediation), Sue King (Shaw AREVA MOX Services), Harriet Haynes (Aiken Technical College) and Ria Alexander-Reid (Kimberly Clark).
"The panelists will talk about their career paths and advances in their fields," said Michele O'Shaughnessy, president of the CSRA section of Society of Women Engineers
SWE is hosting this event in conjunction with other professional societies such as the American Nuclear Society (ANS) Savannah River Section, the Health Physics Society (HPS), Toastmasters International, the National Society of Black Engineers, Federally Employed Women, American Society of Mechanical Engineers and The Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering International.
