Heritage Corner for Feb. 16-22
The Arts and Heritage Center's upcoming exhibits include a show with the North Augusta Cultural Arts Council that will display the artwork of our talented local students. After the Student Art Show, we will host an open-theme art exhibition featuring local artists.
At the end of this month, we will have our annual fundraiser - Casino Night.
Fundraisers like Casino Night help us keep our doors open. Please come out and support the AHC by spending a fun night playing Blackjack, Roulette, Craps and other games at the Julian Smith Casino on Friday, Feb. 24. Tickets are $35 per person and include a buffet meal by WifeSaver. Tickets must be purchased in advance at the AHCNA, Parks Pharmacy, Jim Bush Florist or online at www.artsandheritagecenter.com.
For your neat history topic, this article includes a picture of the 13th Street Bridge that was built by North Augusta's founder James U. Jackson in 1891. The bridge originally brought the trolley from Augusta to our town, but eventually the bridge was rebuilt to carry automobiles across the river. In 1939, the bridge was renamed as the James U. Jackson Memorial Bridge.
As always, you can find out more about the AHCNA and our wonderful exhibits and events by visiting our website at www.artsandheritagecenter.com. The Center is located on the first floor of the North Augusta Municipal Center at 100 Georgia Avenue. Our hours are Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and each first Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 pm. Admission is $5/adult, $3/student (K-12th) and free for AHCNA members and those 5 years old and younger. For more information call (803) 441-4380.
