Handling distractions

The runner pondered, "Should I ignore the pebble in my shoe and finish the race?" His desire to perform well prompted him to disregard the discomfort and keep going, but finally he acquiesced and handled the distraction. The small size of the debris which felt so large surprised him, but removing it helped him to run efficiently. As we passionately pursue life's goals, experience teaches us to pause and deal with the small obstacles that inhibit our journey. "Let your eyes look straight ahead; Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways" (Proverbs 4:25-26).
