Honoring teachers at annual Teacher Appreciation Celebration

The North Augusta Chamber of Commerce will celebrate "Red, White and Blue and Education, Too" as the organization honors teachers in the North Augusta area Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the North Augusta Community Center.
This event recognizes the dedication of Area 2 and Our Lady of Peace teachers with food and fun.
Each year parents are given the opportunity to sponsor a special teacher and this year the Chamber has received individual sponsorships virtually all the 355 teachers who have said they're coming, according to Judy Whaley, member services director fo the Chamber.
The evening's festivities will include an invocation by Fr. David Thompson. Scott Chappell, music teacher at Mossy Creek Elementary School, will sing the National Anthem. Among the events on the agenda are recognition of teachers with 25 years or more and retiring teachers, to be announced by Area 2 Assistant Superintendent Rosie Berry.
The signature sponsors for the Teacher Appreciation Celebration are North Augusta Sertoma Club and CommuniGraphics. Premier sponsors are SRP Federal Credit Union and PCS Nitrogen. And the host sponsors are First Citizens' Bank, SCE&G, Don's Collision, St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church, CSRA Document Solutions and Chick-fil-A.
