Hooks named commander of Korean War vets

Chapter 255 of the Korean War Veterans Association, elected new officers last Saturday.
C. Clyde Hooks of Belvedere was elected commander. Hooks served in Japan, Okinawa and Korea with the Air Force during the war. He served a second tour in Korea with the U.S. Army after the war and two tours in Vietnam.
Harry Rowland of North Augusta was re-elected 1st vice commander. Rowland served in Korean waters with the U.S. Navy during the war.
John T. "Jack" Bombard of Trenton was elected 2nd vice commander. Bombard also served in the Navy during the war. Thomas L. "Tom" Schinskey of Graniteville, elected adjutant of Chapter 255, served in Korea with the Army. Marvin D. "Marv" Timm Sr. of Augusta was re-elected treasurer. Timm served with the Army in Korea. He also served a tour in Germany, two tours in Vietnam and two tours in Alaska.
Charles M. Carswell of Hephzibah, an Army veteran, was elected as one of the 3-year trustees to replace Bombard. Leo H. Passmore of Aiken was re-elected as one of the 1-year trustees. Passmore served tours in China, Japan and Korea with the U.S. Marines. He also served two tours on Okinawa and went on maneuvers in Alaska and the Philippine Islands. The other 1-year trustee is Lawrence E. "Jo Jo" Doolittle of Edgefield, who is the immediate past commander and who served in Germany during the War.
Chapter 255, named after Sgt. Harold F. Adkison, who is MIA from the Korean War, meets on the third Saturdays at the Masonic Lodge in Langley.
