Predators fall to Warriors
Tyler Mayson and Colton LaFon ran into some hard-hitting visitors from Lancaster County in the final game of Fox Creek High School's baseball season, as the Predators' two seniors wound up on the painful side of an 11-1 score versus Indian Land in the playoffs.
The Predators, coached by David Bell, were shut out after the first inning, and completed their 2008 campaign with a 16-11 record.
Bell said his squad is "a little bit inexperienced on the hill and didn't make many errors Tuesday, but (Indian Land) knocked the fire out of the ball today, and that's part of baseball."
Indian Land banged out two runs in the first inning and never trailed, adding four in the third, three in the fifth and two in the seventh, earning the right to advance.
Pitching for the Predators were Rick Hixon and Curtiss Duncan, in that order, and they were particularly plagued by the Warriors' Chad Carlton, who went 3-for-3, and Dillon Creed, who went 2-for-2 (including a double), batting three runs in along the way.
For the Predators, Ryan Just went 1-for-2 and Dylan Barnhart went 1-for-3. The Warriors' pitching was by way of Tyler Watkins and Daniel Thomas, in that order.
