NAHS volleyball falls in first playoff game

Taylor Rau, Haley Dicks and their teammates made a strong statement to the contrary on behalf of North Augusta High School's volleyball team, but Beaufort High School got the last laugh, sneaking past the Lady Jackets in the first round of the AAAA playoffs on Beaufort's turf.

The scores were 25-21, 9-25, 25-19, 26-28 and 15-10. Rau wound up with 24 assists and seven digs, while Dicks followed with four aces and 11 kills. Other big data came from Emma Bach, two aces; Payton Shiver, 14 digs; Keely Gillespie, eight digs; Tori Starnes, eight kills; and Anna Vizvary, 13 kills.

Vizvary commented, "This year, we were looked at to do kind of bad because we had a new coach coming in and we lost four seniors, but we did a lot better than everybody thought we would, and I'm happy and proud of the girls."

The squad, with Marisa Adamson making her debut as coach, wound up with a season record of 13-10-2.
