Trio helps NAMS to title win
Kaleigh Busbee, Meghan Whitfield and Raynee Spires helped lead North Augusta Middle School to its second consecutive county title in volleyball, as their squad swept Langley-Bath-Clearwater Oct. 21 for the championship.
Kenny Brown, the Lady Jackets' coach, wrote, "Our record was 11-1, and this gives us back-to-back city, conference and county championships."
He cited Busbee, Whitfield and Spires as having been particularly outstanding in the midst of an excellent team effort on North Augusta's home court.
This season's roster also included Haley Dunbar, Bailee Hutto, Julia Spieker, Morgan Maroney, Ndidi Okafor, McKenzie Spires, Katie Foss, Erin Calloway, Elizabeth Julian, Desmone't Wilson and Cassey Jowers.
The evening was an exceptional one for the middle school's athletic program, as the football team, in action at Lions Field versus Schofield Middle School, came within inches of also winning the county title.
