FCHS pummeled in the final game
Merriwether Middle School served as the host site for Fox Creek High School's final home football game of the season, and Hunter-Kinard-Tyler wound up doing most of the celebrating, as the visitors battered the Predators by a score of 52-27.
The Trojans got their first touchdown in the opening 30 seconds and had built a 21-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Early in the third quarter, Fox Creek reached the high point of its rally, as Marty Williams connected for a 22-yard passing touchdown with Ryan Just, setting the score at 30-20. The Trojans, however, responded by racking up two touchdowns in that quarter, helping put the game away.
Russell Schneider, Fox Creek's coach, credited his team with a excellent game against an extremely tough opponent. The Predators, 1-8 overall and 1-4 in region play, will wrap up their season at 7:30 p.m. Friday, with a road game versus Ridge Spring-Monetta.
The Trojans began the 2009 season with seven straight losses but then won the next two, with the most recent having been Friday at home against North, 21-14. The squad is now 2-4 in region action.
