Star player of the week — Clay Kincaid
Clay Kincaid is the newest Star Player of the Week, in honor of his contributions in the Yellow Jackets' 41-7 romp against Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School.
"He had one interception. What he really did well was very, very good punt returns," said Dan Pippin, the Jackets' coach. "He's one of our seniors who's been here for four years and worked very hard to become a starting cornerback this year."
Kincaid, listed at 5-foot-9 and 168 pounds, serves as cornerback, having switched from his 2008 role as a receiver.
"He always plays good corner and did (Friday), but then his punt returns were exceptional, and he put us in great field position every time," Pippin said, pointing out that Kincaid's interception return went "all the way to the one," putting the Jackets in ideal scoring position.
His parents are Robert Kincaid and Shannon Kincaid. Other weekly honorees for the season so far have included Jessie Pernell, L.J. Perry, Loranzo Hammonds, Brandon Bright, Matt Hazel and the entire starting defensive unit (from the South Aiken game).
