Paddlefest is Saturday on the Savannah River

The Savannah Riverkeeper will sponsor the fourth annual Paddlefest this Saturday.

This year's canoe and kayak race will be sanctioned by the USA Canoe and Kayak Association, and it will again run from the Savannah Rapids Pavilion to the Boat House - downtown at the Riverfront Marina. There will also be the home-made raft race that will include prizes for the top three placing rafts, as well as awards for appearance - such as originality, design, engineering, and more.

Savannah Riverkeeper is an Augusta-based nonprofit advocacy organization that works to protect and restore the water quality in the entire Savannah River basin.

Entry fees will be $35 per person (pre-registration through 4:59 p.m., August 20) and $45 per person (day of event). Registration is available online (paddlefestga.com) or in person at the Riverkeeper office (105 Riverfront Drive, Augusta, Ga.).
