Ever since winning the district championship in North Augusta, the 10&Under Girls All-Stars set their sights on something that had never occurred before -- winning the State Softball Championship for the team's age group.
The championship games were held at Citizens Park in Aiken.
There were various teams from around the state that included Aiken, Belvedere, Clover, Dentsville, Mauldin, Midlands, Mineral Springs, North Augusta and York.
The North Augusta girls beat Dentsville on Friday and went on the beat Aiken, Dentsville (again) and Mauldin on Saturday.
They faced Mauldin again in the championship game on Sunday. Mauldin would have to beat North Augusta twice to win the State Championship.
Mauldin won the first game 11-5 to force a second game. North Augusta won the second game 10-4 to clinch the State Championship.
The winning pitcher for the team was Tanner Starnes.
