Predators set baseball roster

Fox Creek High School's baseball roster is set, with David Bell returning in his role as coach. Bell, who has coached the program since its establishment, has a roster packed with seniors and freshmen and also has a baseball field taking shape on campus.

Seniors on board include Bell's son, Caleb, who won all-state honors for his service in 2009 and is listed this season to serve at second base and shortstop. The senior corps also includes Cody Willing (center field and second base), Justin Benson (pitching and first base), Aaron Steedley (pitching and second base), Joe McCarty (pitching and right field), Curtiss Duncan (catching and pitching), Evan Pinion (catching and outfield) and Ryan Just (second base and outfield).

The freshmen include Justin Anderson (center field and outfield), Caleb Cox (pitching and right field), Nick Baxley (pitching and first base), Josh Moeller (left field and utility), Austin Posten (center field and utility), Brent Lacey (second base and shortstop) and Chris Duran (third base and outfield).

Juniors include Cody Morris (second base and shortstop), Taylor Carter (third base and pitching) and Austen Giacobone (left field and first base). The sole sophomore is Jamie Gregory (catching and utility).

The Predators are seeing plenty of Midland Valley High School's field this week, as participants in the Mustangs' pre-season tournament. Regular-season action will start Monday at Ware Shoals, and the first home game - the first game ever to be played on Fox Creek's new field - is set for Tuesday, with C.A. Johnson as the visiting team. Plans are for the new field to be known as The Meadow.
