Adopt a pet
The Aiken County Animal Services appeared on the adopt a pet segment of NBC Augusta on September 9, 2009. Sandy Larsen is holding Mr. Nibbles, a very sweet litter trained female gray tabby cat that has only one eye due to an injury. She functions well and is a great companion cat. Gwen Geter of NBC Augusta has Dumas, a gentle white housebroken male Eskimo Spitz. Both pets are up to date on vaccinations, have been wormed, microchipped and have been or will be spayed or neutered. For more information, call the shelter at 642-1537.The shelter is located at 411 Wire Road in Aiken. Ann Sawyer reported that at the Heartsong Adoptathon all seven puppies that were shown full screen on Wednesday adopt a pet two weeks ago were adopted. The puppies were found by Betty Jean Dalhover of Girard, Ga., at a dumpster in Burke County. I suggested that Betty Jean contact Loretta Emmons of Heartsong Animal Rescue to put the puppies in the adoptathon. As most of you know, I announced the adoptathon once more this past Wednesday. It was a great success for several pet groups including Heartsong. In two years, hundreds of pets now have good homes because of everyone's willingness to offer such a great service to the community.
