Miss McMillan, Mr. Ashmore are wed in Colorado ceremony


Miss Kelsey Heather McMillan and Mr. Nicholas James Ashmore, both of Greeley, Colo., exchanged wedding vows on June 20, 2009, at Immanuel Community Church, Fort Collins, Colo. The Rev. Brad Gilliland officiated at the 3 p.m. ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Denise and Michael McMillan of Fort Collins, Colo.
The groom is the son of Karen (Phyllis Purcell) Ashmore and Scott Ross of Denver, Colo., and of James Ashmore of Allen, Texas.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a strapless jeweled white satin-trimmed taffeta gown and a two-tiered lace veil. She wore a pearl necklace and pearl earrings and carried a bouquet of calla lilies and red roses.
Ms. Michelle Knees of Fort Collins was the maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Ms. Julie Swenson, Ms. Kerianne Simpson, Ms. Anika De Groot, all of Fort Collins; Ms. Katie McCormick of Greeley; and Ms. Julie Warner of Denver. The honor attendants wore red satin gowns and carried bouquets of calla lilies.
Junior bridesmaids were Jasmine Ross, sister of the groom, of Denver, and Lindsey Wright, cousin of the groom, of Simpsonville.
Flower girls were Little Misses Tamara Ross, sister of the groom, of Denver, and Casey Wright, cousin of the groom, of Simpsonville. They wore champagne satin full length gowns.
Mr. Tristan Ashmore of Denver was his brother's best man. Groomsmen were Mr. Matt McMillan, brother of the bride, of Fort Collins, Mr. Ben Barrett of Golden, Colo.; Mr. Matt Moffitt, Mr. Brandon Ferris and Mr. Jack Brisbin, all of Greeley, Colo.
A reception was held at the Lincoln Center. Keeping the bride's book was Sarah McMillan, cousin of the bride, of Littleton, Colo. Cutting the cake was the mother of the bride. Also assisting was Rebecca Matthews, Fort Collins.
The bride's mother wore a strapless champagne satin dress. The groom's mother chose a silver satin full-length gown. They each wore a corsage of calla lilies.
The couple will enjoy a wedding trip to the Bahamas later in the summer. They will make their home in Greeley.
Special guests attending the wedding included the groom's maternal grandparents, Shirley Purcell of Columbia (formerly of North Augusta) and James and Faye Purcell of North Augusta; the groom's aunt, Dr. Lynn Purcell Wright of North Augusta (North Augusta High School Class of 1984, Furman Class of 1988 and MUSC Class of 1992).
The bride and groom are students at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley and will continue their studies after the wedding.
The groom's mother is a 1972 graduate of NAHS and a 1977 graduate of USC. She is the executive director of Lambi Fund of Haiti, which supports economic justice, democracy and sustainable development in Haiti. His father is a sales execuive with Mechoshade Lighting Systems of Long Island City, N.Y. His stepfather is a partner with the law firm Lottner Rubin Fishman in Denver.
The bride's parents own Michael's Plum, a catering company that specializes in corporate events and weddings.
