Starting off another week at Fox Creek students will be able to participate in our school's annual Red Ribbon Week, Oct. 26-30. This week's Red Ribbon attire includes Collegiate Day on Monday, Dress Your Best Day on Tuesday, Pink Out Day (showing the color of breast cancer awareness) for Wednesday, Red All Over Day on Thursday (for the annual school Shepherd blood drive) and Black Out Day on Friday, in hopes of blacking out the idea of substance abuse. On Friday the Predators will also be fighting against Ridge Spring Monetta in their football game at Ridge Spring. Special assemblies are scheduled for Wednesday and Friday of thee week. Wednesday's activities will take place in our Commons Area at 8:45 a.m. All of our female students are invited as well as any of their female family members to gather in promotion of breast cancer awareness. Participants will be able to take laps outside around the school to show their pride, enjoy pink-colored food, and learn about new studies and important facts of breast cancer. Friday Brian Hensley will speak to the entire student body about the consequences of drunk drivers on themselves and on the innocent.
As Fox Creek students join the fight for breast cancer and against substance abuse, our Lady Predators are also determined to make their fight to the volleyball playoffs. Junior Courtney Anderson says she feels good and confident, "as long as we are able to pull together and hold tight." The girls are hoping to win state and make it to the finals. Courtney also wishes to give the senior players a great gift in remembering what great seasons they have played.
Volleyball isn't the only team with players who are experiencing bitter-sweet feelings as they near the end of their high school careers. Football player Ty Keefe said he is a little depressed about leaving but he is looking forward to attending college at the Air Force Academy, where he is inspired to begin wrestling. Ty said he will miss the people, friends and fresh attitude he found at Fox Creek. Senior Cody Willing also made comments on the aspects he will miss about Predator sports. "I will miss the relationships and closeness of the coaches and players, as well as the support of all of the Fox Creek fans."
In the same manner, other FC seniors are hoping to earn money for their senior trip to Universal Studios. Fundraisers that have been put to date are car washes, flag sales, cushion sales, cupcake sales and a big yard sale scheduled for Nov. 14. This month the public can visit Sparkle Car Wash in Belvedere for the $9 wash and punch in the code 4488 in order to support the seniors' funds. Be sure to stop over at the wash and show your Predator Pride as you help the senior class.
