The past and upcoming week at Fox Creek High School has been and will be extremely busy.
On Monday, Oct. 12, the Juniors at FCHS participated in their ring ceremony. I personally went to the ceremony and it was memorable. At the ceremony speakers explained the meanings of the ring. The rings then were presented to the students by their parents. This was one event that my fellow classmates and I will never forget.
In other news, Powder Puff is right around the corner. The game will be held on Nov. 23 at Merriwether Middle School. Jessica Horton, a junior at FCHS, is participating in Powder Puff this year. She said, " I am excited to play football with my friends. It's going to be really cold but it should be a blast! My friends and I have a lot of practice and preparing to do for the upcoming game, but I can't wait!" It sounds like the Powder Puff participants are excited for the upcoming event. Good luck to all of the girls.
Mrs. Smith, a math teacher at Fox Creek High School, along with her senior girls' character education class, is heading off a "Save The Ta Tas" campaign. This is all in effort to raise money for breast cancer awareness. In this effort they are selling T-shirts, bracelets, ribbons, and cupcakes.
Red Ribbon Week is also right around the corner. It will be held Oct. 26 through Oct. 30. Monday is Collegiate Day; Tuesday is Dress Your Best Day; Wednesday is Pink Out Day; Thursday is Red All Over for the annual blood drive and Friday is Black-out Day in our hopes of blacking out substance abuse.
National Day of Writing will be held on Oct. 20. The entire school, even the administrators and teachers, will be writing on a common topic from 8:45 until 9:15. This is the first time FCHS has participated in this event. We all are ready to be participants in this national program this year.
Seniors are in charge of many fundraisers in efforts to raise money for their upcoming trip to Universal Studios in March. You can visit Sparkle Car Wash in Belvedere for the $9 wash to help them raise money. If you go, punch in the code 4488 to help them with their fundraiser. They are also selling flags with the fox head -- a specially-created item for just Fox Creek-- and cupcakes every Tuesday and Thursday. They are hosting a yard sale scheduled for Nov. 14 at Palmetto Gym in Belvedere. Stop by for special treasures.
Lastly, report cards will be issued on Thursday, Oct. 30. Parents can pick up their child's report cards from 4 to 7 p.m. and also attend an open PTCA meeting in the conference room.
