NAMS
The NAMS Athletic Department will offer Buck's Pizza each Wednesday for $2 a slice and Chick-fil-A chicken biscuits on Thursday mornings in the car line for $3 each or two for $5.
Basketball tryouts -- Girls basketball tryouts are Monday and Tuesday (Nov. 2-3) beginning at 3:30. Boys basketball tryouts are Wednesday and Thursday (Nov. 4-5) beginning at 3:30.
Video cameras on campus -- Due to construction beginning soon, there are cameras to monitor activity inside and outside the building; the school and construction company jointly paid for the cameras to better ensure safety during the two years of construction. The monitor is in Principal Barry Head's office and all recordings are kept on file for the entire year. Head has been reviewing tapes of kids who are hanging out in the gym lobby and other areas between classes and will be speaking with students individually who are late/constantly stopping and not getting to class on time.

Volunteer Spotlight -- "Amy Brockwell is a wonderful volunteer! She offers services to the entire first grade each week (usually copying papers for the whole grade level for at least 1 hour per week). She is someone we count on to make our lives easier," said Heather Hatton-Key.
Martha Brunson received a $300 grant from the North Augusta Cultural Arts Council to purchase items for her classroom. Theresa Spieker received the "Students, Teachers Achieving Results" grant from Savannah River Remediation for $1,000. The grant will be used to promote education in science and mathematics. Jodi Brown-Hooks has been voted NAE's Distinguished Teacher of Reading by members of NAE ACIRA.
Veterans' Appreciation Day is Nov. 10. Anyone with memorabilia, military photos, medals, awards, newspaper clippings or anything acquired in the military service (no weapons) and is willing to display in the school museum is asked bring those items on Monday, Nov. 9, at 3 p.m. The items should be labeled with a brief description of the item, how it was received, etc.
Mossy Creek
"Adopt a Turtle" Mentoring Program is looking for males who are interested in becoming a mentor at Mossy Creek. Each possible mentor is asked to complete an application, submit and pass a criminal background check and attend a training session. For more information, call Vilencia Leslie or Suzanne Gunn.
