Artwork receives IDOL accolades


As Gayleisha Bryant was named the North Augusta IDOL 2009, another group of winners were recognized for their efforts in the art component of the contest.
Sponsored by the North Augusta Cultural Arts Council, the art contest, like the talent competition, was divided into three categories -- elementary, middle and high school, in addition to an overlal winner.
Kelly Cercy of North Augusta High School received accolades for her work, chosen "Best in Show" for the competition.
The first place winners were Janese Utley, North Augusta High School; Mary Kate Jenkins, Paul Knox Middle School and Kiana Franklin, Belvedere Elementary School.
Other art winners were:
Second place -- Draven Doom, North Augusta Elementary School; Hari Seng, Paul Knox; Thais Weaver, NAHS\
Third place -- Ashlyn Sweats, Mossy Creek; Shelby Kendrick, North Augusta Middle School; Nicole Felak, NAHS
Honorable mention -- Ja'Mauris Walker an Kevin Solei, Belvedere El.; James Peavy, Mossy Creek; Jackqueline N'Kutula, Hammond Hill; BriAnna Earnest, (elementary students);
Anna Byars, Paul Knox, and Ashton Young, NAMS (middle school students)
Caroline Kalayjian, Adeana Berry, Brittany Smith, Jessica Brigan, Alex Baker, Jessica Jones, Brooke Bolen, Anthony Garcia and Cody Anderson (all high school students)
