Strom Thurmond named to school improvement program


Strom Thurmond High School is one of 11 schools from across the state of South Carolina to be named to the Dick and Tunky Riley School Improvement Award program. The local high school is the only high school in the state to receive this honor roll status.
Strom Thurmond High School's School Improvement Council will now prepare their Level Two portfolios for submission to the South Carolina School Improvement Council. From the honor roll schools, five School Improvement Councils will be selected to advance to the winner's level. The 2010 Riley Award will be announced at the SC-SIC Annual Conference scheduled for Saturday, March 13, in Columbia.
Other schools named to the Honor Roll list are: A. J. Lewis Greenview Elementary School-Richland 1; Brookland-Cayce Grammar School No. 1-Lexington 2; Camden Elementary School of the Creative Arts (Kershaw); Chestnut Oaks Middle School-Sumter 17; The Children's School at Sylvia Circle Rock Hill-York 3; Indian Land Middle School-Lancaster; Manning Early Childhood Center-Clarendon 2; Nursery Road Elementary School-Lexington-Richland 5; Round Top Elementary School-Richland 2; Stone Academy of Communication Arts-Greenville.
