Bill Adams
Funeral services for Mr. William E. "Bill" Adams, 72, of Seymour Drive, North Augusta, who entered into rest Nov. 8, 2009, will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Posey Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Sealey officiating. Interment be in Hillcrest Memorial Park with veterans honors.
Mr. Adams was a native of Augusta, having made North Augusta his home for the past 41 years. He was a member of Breezy Hill Baptist Church, a U.S. Army veteran and retired from the Georgia Air National Guard, 165th Airlift Wing with 37 years of service. Mr. Adams was a retired letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service with 35 years of service, employed by Richmond County Georgia Extension Service, a Master Gardener, a 4-H volunteer, member of the Augusta Camellia Society and the Aiken Hydrangea Society. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Earl B. "Trey" Glove, III; his parents, Henry C. and Ethel Dorn Adams Sr.; a sister, Dorothy A. Pearson; three brothers, Henry C. Adams Jr., Charles E. Adams and John A. Adams.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Brenda Harris Adams; three daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and Bo Glover, Joy and Pete Pack, Leslie and Thomas Timblin, all of North Augusta; two brothers and their wives, Bobby R. and Lorita Adams, Carl F. and Mary Adams, all of Augusta; two sisters, Hazel A. Hammock and Alice A. Mosley, both of Augusta; eight grandchildren, Stephanie Wehr, Kyle Glover, Ciara Timblin, Holly Timblin, Ashley Fulmer, Corrie Glover and Ryan Davis; six great-grandchildren, Sterling Glover, Whitney Fulmer, Taylor Fulmer, Tucker Fulmer, Jaylen Davis and Keylen Davis; a great-great-grandchild, Aiden Rearden; a special friend, the late Granny Burke.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Master Gardeners. Active pallbearers will be nephews.
The family was to receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6 to 8. The family will be at the residence of Joy and Pete Pack, 114 Willow Run, North Augusta.

Lucille B. Smith
Mrs. Lucille B. Smith, 84, wife of the late Charles E. Smith Jr., of Stanton Drive, entered into rest Nov. 7, 2009, at Doctor's Hospital.
Her funeral service was held Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009, in the Rowland Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Dwayne Hooven officiating. Mrs. Smith will be conveyed to Sparta, N.C., for interment in Mt. Zion Methodist Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith, a resident of North Augusta since 1968, was a member of Old Line Primitive Baptist Church, the North Augusta Garden Club and the 39er's of Curtis Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, June Smith Childers, and a granddaughter, Brooke Childers, both of Martinez, Ga.; a sister, Thelma Guercio, and a niece, Jeanette Guercio both of Bel Air, Md.
The family received friends one hour prior to the service.

Robert Harold Thompson II
The Rev. Dr. Robert Harold Thompson II, 65, of Hiddenite, N.C., passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009. He was born Oct. 6, 1944, to Robert Harold Thompson Sr. and Lola Pickett Thompson in Eleria, Ohio. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Elizabeth Thompson.
Bob grew up in North Augusta, where he was active in a variety of athletics and was a graduate of NASH. One of his most treasured school memories was being named STAR "Player of the Week" in the 1961 SC State Football Championship game.
Bob was a member of Reformation Lutheran Church. He was a graduate of Pfeiffer University, received his Master's of Divinity from Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary and his Doctor of Ministry from Union Theological Seminary of Richmond, Va. He was a retired minister. During his ministry years he served as pastor at Reformation Lutheran in Taylorsville, St. John Lutheran in Walhalla, St. Peter Lutheran in Chapin and Ehrhardt Lutheran Parish in Ehrhardt. He served as USC Lutheran campus pastor and professor of religion at USC Salkehatchie. Also, he was a reserve officer for the Ehrhardt/Denmark Police Department.
Loved ones left to cherish his memory include his wife of 43 years, Nadine Broome Thompson of the home; one son, Robert Harold Thompson III and his wife, Debbie, of Hiddenite; one daughter, Stephanie Thompson Childs and husband, Nathan, of Chapin; six grandchildren, Tristan and Katharine Conner, Justin and Jaycee Thompson, all of Hiddenite, and Tyler and Jabin Childs of Chapin; mother-in-law, Thelma Broome of Bristol, Tenn.; one brother, John Thompson of Walhalla; three sisters, Patricia Finch and husband, Don, of North Augusta, Kathy Ringel and husband, Eugene, and Cecelia Flanders and husband, Joe, all of Martinez, Ga.; 17 nieces and nephews; along with a number of great-nieces and great-nephews.
The funeral service was to be Wednesday, Nov. 11, at 1 p.m. at Reformation Lutheran Church, Taylorsville, with Pastor Lewis Murdock officiating. His casket was covered by the United States flag that was used at services for his father, who was buried with full military honors in North Augusta's Pineview Memorial Gardens. Charles J. Lee
Mr. Charles J. Lee, 52, of Thurmond Street, entered into rest Monday, Nov. 9, 2009, at his residence.
His funeral service was to be held Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009, at 4:30 p.m. in the Rowland Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Wayne R. Bruner officiating and with Masonic Rites and full military honors. Interment will be private.
Mr. Lee was a native of Walhalla and lived in North Augusta for the past five months. He was a member of Bible Methodist Church. Mr. Lee was a master mason and a chemical operator and electronic technician for General Chemical. He retired from the U.S. Navy as a chief petty officer with 23 years of service and served in Vietnam, Desert Storm and Kuwaiti Freedom. He was the most giving and forgiving man.
Mr. Lee is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann Bartlett Lee of North Augusta; one foster son, Roy Charles Short of Union; one stepson, William Scott Oliver of Augusta, Ga.; a daughter, Daveina Maye Lee May of Ohio; a beloved granddaughter, Marrington Elizabeth Moltzen of North Augusta, whom he raised as a daughter and was his special munchkin; three stepdaughters, Tammy Harrison of Charleston, Anita Moltzen of Jackson and Angel Routt of Ohio; his beloved father-in-law, Thomas B. Bartlett of Blythe, Ga.; no brothers or sisters; two sisters-in-law, Cynthia Hayes of North Augusta and Jeannie Long and husband David of Blythe, Ga.; a brother in law, Johnny Bartlett of Augusta, Ga.; two nephews, Dean Hayes and Cody Hayes, both of North Augusta; a granddaughter, Olivia Rose May of Ohio; three stepgrandsons, Christian Taylor Biering of Jackson, Anthony Wagers and Jacob Wagers, both of Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alexander and Geraldine O'Connor Bonniville Lee.
Honorary pallbearers were to be Johnny Odom, David Allen Long Jr., John Galarza, Robert Roy Griffin Sr., Lee Wetherington and Barry McCarthy Suggs.
The family was to receive friends at the funeral home from 3 p.m. until service time.

Allan Blake DeVaney
Funeral services for Mr. Allan Blake DeVaney, 55, of June Street, North Augusta, who entered into rest Nov. 7, 2009, were conducted Monday evening in the Posey Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bob Gosey officiating. Interment was in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Mr. DeVaney was a native of Augusta, having made North Augusta his home for the past 20 years. He was a member of TrueNorth Church, a master craftsman in wood and glass, co-owner of Savannah River Art and Glass and a member of The Stain Glass Association of America. Blake loved music and animals and was an avid gardener. Mr. DeVaney was the son of the late Mr. Robert Matthew DeVaney.
Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Brenda Verdery-DeVaney; a daughter, Samantha DeVaney of Atlanta; his mother, Ann Stevens DeVaney of Augusta; two sisters and their husbands, Cherry DeVaney and Wade Gassman of North Augusta, Valerie DeVaney and Jeff Coffey of Augusta; father-in-law, Davis Verdery of North Augusta; two brothers-in-law, Vernon Verdery Jr. of Aiken and John Verdery of North Augusta; loving pets, Mattie and Crickett.
Honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Grove, Tom Carlton, Dennis Androsick, Kevin Walden, George Walden and Nathan Leopard.
The family received friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

James E. Haywood
Mr. James E. Haywood, 79, entered into rest Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, at National Health Care.
His funeral service was held, Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at Immanuel Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Coyle officiating. Burial followed in Pineview Memorial Park.
Mr. Haywood was a native of Asheboro, N.C., and lived in North Augusta since 1955. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. He graduated from North Carolina State University with a degree in chemical engineering and retired from SRS after 35 years as a superintendent of waste management. Mr. Haywood was a former member of the North Augusta Rotary Club, North Augusta Chamber of Commerce, the chairman of the Private Industry Council for Aiken County, a superintendent in the safety department, security and personnel, and a member of Augusta Genealogical Society.
Mr. Haywood is survived by his sons, Robert Haywood and his wife Kym of Severna Park, Md., Jimmie Haywood and his wife Sherri of North Augusta and Charles Haywood and his wife Judy of Evans, Ga.; his daughters, Betty Lynn Godwin and her husband Sonny, Kathy Lynn and her husband Pat, and Julianne Jhant and her husband Philip, all of North Augusta; one brother, Bryce Haywood of Columbia; and his nine grandchildren, Travis Smith, Kate Lynn, Tyler Haywood, Allie Jhant, Paige Haywood, Isabella Haywood, Patrick Lynn, Geddings Jhant and Hawthrone Haywood. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances C. Haywood, and his parents, Edward and Kate Whatley Haywood.
The family received friends at the church from noon until time of the service and were at the home of Betty Lynn Godwin, 268 Shoreline Drive, North Augusta.
Pallbearers were Jim Beatty, Ernest Hooks, David James, Dewey Gregory, Chip Buchanan and Kelly Buchanan. Honorary pallbearers were Frank Aiken and Lindy Mann.

Joe Brown
Funeral services for Mr. Jewel Nathaniel "Joe" Brown, 87, of Atomic Road, North Augusta, who entered into rest Nov. 6, 2009, were conducted Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock from Immanuel Baptist Church. Rev. Jimmy Coyle and Chaplain Dexter Lambert officiating. Interment was in Sunset Memory Gardens with veterans honors.
Mr. Brown was a native of Talladega, Ala., having made North Augusta his home for the past 56 years. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and was a retired senior reactor operator with the DuPont Company at Savannah River Plant with 31 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a member of the Jesse C. Lynch Memorial American Legion Post 71, a Little League Baseball Coach for 13 years and an avid golfer. Mr. Brown was the father of the late Randy Steven Brown.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Edith Hobbs Brown; three daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Jim Reeder of Savannah, Cathy and Mark Rearden of Augusta and Yvette and Jay Jennings of Edgefield; six grandchildren, Clay Reeder, Courtney Reeder Dawkins, Toby Watt, Ben Watt, Elizabeth Watt Senn and McKenzie Jackson; four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Dwayne Hobbs, James Hobbs, Kenny Hobbs, Michael Turner, Wayne Armstrong, Clay Henderson and Toby Watt.

Richard W. Eckenrode
Graveside services for Mr. Richard W. Eckenrode of Camden Way, Graniteville, who entered into rest Nov. 7, 2009, were to be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Pineview Memorial Park.
Mr. Eckenrode was a native of Youngstown, Ohio, having made North Augusta his home for the past year. He was of the Methodist faith and was a retired supervisor with East Ohio Gas Company. Mr. Eckenrode enjoyed NASCAR, Chevys, the Cleveland Browns and spending time in the mountains and the beach.
Survivors include his wife, Arlene R. Eckenrode; two sons, Scott Eckenrode of Chester, Ga., and Steven Eckenrode of Senora, Calif.; two daughters, Sandra Thompson of Augusta and Tamara Garry of Virginia Beach, Va.; three grandchildren, Samantha Whitlock, Justine Parsell and Julie Miller; five great-grandchildren.
