Candace Thomas Hooks
Memorial services for Mrs. Candace Thomas Hooks, 48, of Creekwood Lane, Martinez, Ga., who entered into rest Oct. 24, 2009, were conducted Friday morning at the Posey Funeral Chapel with the Rev. J. Earl Welch officiating. Interment will be Private.
Mrs. Hooks was a native of Marietta, Ga., having made Martinez her home for the past six years. She was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Hooks was the daughter of the late Mr. Elmer "Red" Thomas and daughter-in-law of the late Mrs. Cora Lee Hooks.
Survivors include her husband, Carl T. Hooks; a son, Jacob Hicks of Demorest, Ga.; a step-son, Christopher Hooks of Hephzibah, Ga.; her beloved pet, Priss-c; her mother, Jean Thomas, Martinez, Ga.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ken and Sam Thomas of Evans, Ga.,and Richard and Bonnie Thomas of Richmond Hill, Ga.; parents-in-law, Clyde and Mary Hooks, Belvedere; a brother-in-law and his wife, Ernest and Jodi Hooks, North Augusta; a number of nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as life-long friends.
The family received friends at the funeral home Thursday evening.

Wally Blackwell
Graveside services for Mr. Wallace N. "Wally" Blackwell II, 56, of Hidden Hills Drive, North Augusta, who entered into rest Oct. 31, 2009, will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Veterans honors will be rendered by the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Blackwell was a life-long resident of North Augusta. He was a Baptist, a U.S. Navy veteran and retired from Westinghouse at the Savannah River Site.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Brandon and Kaja Blackwell of Eugene, Ore.; a brother and sister-in-law, Clete and Elaine Blackwell of Columbia; a nephew, Clete Blackwell II; two nieces, Hannah Blackwell and Mary Faith Blackwell; a special friend, Linda King, North Augusta; his pet cats, Bebe and Chico.
The family was to receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6 until 8.

Clara G. Forrest
Funeral services for Mrs. Clara G. Forrest, 84, of Marion Avenue, North Augusta, who entered into rest Oct. 28, 2009, were conducted Friday at the Ridgeview Baptist Church with Dr. Jesse L. Goldman officiating. Interment was Saturday in Eastview Cemetery, Rome, Ga.
Mrs. Forrest was a native of Lincoln County, Ga, having made North Augusta her home for the past 25 years. She was a member of Ridgeview Baptist Church. Mrs. Forrest was preceded in death by her husband, Major Arthur A. Forrest; her parents, Walter H. and Sallie Mae Goldman; her sister, Sadie Lever, two brothers, Randall Goldman and Allen Goldman.
Survivors include three brothers sisters-in-law, Bruce and Mary Goldman of West Baden Springs, Ind., Bernard Goldman, McCormick, Leon and Doris Goldman, Cordesville; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Clarice Bates of North Augusta, Emma and Roy Krull of North Hollywood, Calif., Oneita and J.T. Paradise, Lincolnton, Ga., Gail and Jacky Looney of Danielsville, Ga.; a number of nieces and nephews.
The family received friends at the funeral home last Thursday evening.

Margie P. Ferst
Graveside services for Mrs. Margie P. Ferst, 94, formerly of Highview Avenue, North Augusta, who entered into rest Oct. 30, 2009, were conducted Monday afternoon at Westover Memorial Park with the Rev. Roy Kiser officiating.
Mrs. Ferst was a native of Graniteville, having made North Augusta her life-long residence. She was a graduate of Tubman High School and the Junior College of Augusta. Mrs. Ferst was a homemaker and was a member of the First Baptist Church of North Augusta, the Hope Sunday School Class, the Sheffield Club, the Woman's Missionary Union, the J.D. Hughey Multifocus Group and Senior Friends of Augusta. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Marion Ferst Sr., a son, Leon Marion Ferst Jr.; and a step-daughter, Madeline Cooper.
Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Diane Arant Ferst of North Augusta; a step-granddaughter, Valerie Ferris and several nieces and nephews.

Erline McCary McLendon
Funeral services for Mrs. Erline McCary McLendon, 72, of Palmetto Avenue, Belvedere, SC, who entered into rest Oct. 31, 2009, were to be conducted Wednesday morning at 11 a.m. at the Posey Funeral Chapel with Dr. R. Larry Brown officiating. Interment was to be in Pineview Memorial Park.
Mrs. McLendon was a native of Saluda and a former resident of Augusta, having made Belvedere her home for the past 16 years. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church and was retired from Belk's of North Augusta where she worked in the Men's Department.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Brian and April Sexton of Leesville; a daughter, Diane Sexton of Palm Springs, Calif.; a brother, Allen McCary of Bradenton, Fla.; three sisters, Estelle Spearman of Greenwood, Doris Perry of Chappels and Louise Scott of Belvedere; and a grandson, Joel Sexton, Augusta.
Active pallbearers were Ricky McCary, David McCary, Joe McCary, Julian McCary, Ronnie McCary and Benjie Scott. Honorary pallbearers will be Ricky McCary, Randy McCary, Darrell McCary, Carroll McCary, Brigham Scott, Mannual Kendall, Steve Byrd and Perry Powell.
The family received friends at the funeral home this Tuesday evening.
