Pageant to be part of fundraiser
A fall festival and beauty pageant are being planned to benefit Emily Zimmerman, a 16-year-old diagnosed with brain tumors.
Sponsored by the First Baptist Church of Beech Island, Bethel Methodist of Jackson, Second Baptist of Beech Island and Matlock of Jackson, the day's festivities include a beauty pageant on Friday night, Nov. 20, and a fall festival on Saturday, which will feature a car show, barbecue cookers, a pie bake-off, crafters, vendors, yard sales, etc.
There will be free popcorn, cotton candy, kids' games, a cake auction, free balloons, as well.
The Miss Heritage Day fall pageant begins at 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 20 at the Hippodrome. The deadline for entering is 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13. Age divisions include Baby Miss (0-12 months), Wee Miss (13-23 months), Toddler Miss (2-3 years), Tiny Miss (4-6 years), Little Miss (7-9 years), Junior Miss (10-12 years), Teen Miss (13-15 years), Miss Heritage Day (16-18 years).
All contestants must compete in age-appropriate dress, hair and make-up. Photos must be dropped off and contestant numbers picked up between 6 and 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 19 at the Beech Island Historical Society.
The fee to register is $50, which should be sent to Deborah Maney, 122 New Windsor Way, Beech Island, SC 29842.
