Regional authors showcased at Nancy Carson Library Book Bash
NORTH AUGUSTA -- The Nancy Carson Library introduced book shoppers to the works of a slate of local and regional authors Thursday evening at its fifth annual Book Bash.
The event brought out about 20 area authors, including Jeanne McDaniel, Gene Jennings, Frank Christian, Dianne Brady, Starkey Flythe, Lucy Nolan and Don Rhodes.
"It's great. This is our fifth year, and every year it gets better, I think," said Nancy Carson Library manager Barbara Walker, who also had a book to sell at the Bash.
Each writer set up a display of current publications for readers to browse throughout the two-hour Bash.
"I come to renew friendships. I think it's wonderful and very welcoming," said Aiken author Idella Bodie, author of more than a dozen young adult historical novels.
The authors chatted amongst themselves and talked up their books to customers, as well as offering tips and advice to other aspiring writers. Many of the writers had attended previous Book Bash events.
"I believe in the Book Bash. It's been going on for several years, and it's a good way to introduce readers to new authors. I'm here with all my books, including my newest title, 'The Secret Child,' which has only just been released," said Marti Healy, also the author of "The God-Dog Connection" and "The Rhythm of Selby."
The event attracted some repeat shoppers.
"I wanted to meet the authors," said Gary Du Teau of North Augusta. "I bought a book here last year, and I enjoyed it so much I wanted to come back and get another one."
