A Beech Island woman is a suspect in a case of car theft involving a blue 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier valued at $1,000. The car was stolen Aug. 21 on Austin Street.
A North Augusta man was arrested and jailed Aug. 21 on a charge of driving under the influence. He had been involved in a wreck - vehicle vs. utility pole, at Weston Street and Old Edgefield Road - and went on to fail sobriety tests and show a blood-alcohol level of .11 percent.
A vehicle break-in occurred Aug. 20 or 21 on Pisgah Road. Approximately $4 in cash and a revolver valued at $350 were stolen. The gun was described as a Rossi .357 with a black rubber grip.
Computer hardware valued at $500 was stolen Aug. 20 or 21 during a vehicle break-in on Crestyln Drive.
A gray and silver 21-speed bicycle was stolen Aug. 19 on Hillcrest Court. It was described as a men's-style 26-inch model valued at $250. The thief was described as a black male, 20-25 years old, with "limp, saggy pants."
Three Stihl-brand blowers with a combined value of $1,379 were stolen off a lawn-care vehicle Aug. 16 at the entrance to Bentley Place, on Haley Road. The thief was described as a white male, 25-35 years old and driving a green SUV.
A larceny occurred Aug. 15 or 16 on Creekview Court. An orange lawn mower valued at $275 was stolen.
A woman from North Augusta was arrested and jailed Aug. 15 on a charge of driving under the influence, after being found with slurred speech and bloodshot eyes at a traffic-safety checkpoint at US 25 and I-20. Her blood-alcohol level was .21 percent - almost three times the legal limit.
A vehicle break-in occurred Aug. 14 or 15 on Carolina Avenue, with the prowler(s) stealing $1,631 in items, including a red Gateway laptop computer, Cartier sunglasses, a black leather binder and a tub of peppermint candy.
An Aug. 15 vehicle break-in near the Greeneway and Riverside Boulevard resulted in the loss of $2,300 in items. Taken were a Mac laptop computer, an iPod, cash and a makeup case.
A Martinez man was arrested and jailed Aug. 14 on a charge of breach of trust, involving at least 11 bogus transactions involving a total of $2,500 in fraudulently reduced prices at a business on Knox Avenue. Prices were cut in exchange for an ongoing supply of drugs.
A burglary on Calbrieth Way Aug. 14 resulted in the loss of $2,000 in items, including a Taylor-brand golf bag and another golf bag with University of South Carolina logos.
A Summerville man was arrested and jailed Aug. 14 on a charge of possessing marijuana with intent to distribute, after he was stopped at Martintown Road and I-20 at a traffic-safety checkpoint.
A rash of vehicle break-ins occurred Aug. 12-13 on Jackson Avenue, East Avenue, West Pine Grove Road, West Forest Avenue and West Woodlawn Avenue. Some were accompanied by theft, including two on East Avenue that involved the combined loss of $5,900 in items - mainly an assortment of jewelry and a GPS unit.
A North Augusta man was arrested and jailed Aug. 12 on a shoplifting charge involving $113 in items stuffed into his shorts, including cosmetic items, a candy assortment, a hairbrush, magazines and bug spray.
