Stars among us
Local students receive honors from CofC
Two North Augusta students received distinguished honors for the Fall 2009 semester.
Mollianna Judd and Sarah Mentrup maintained a grade-point ratio between 3.6 and 3.79 and will be recognized with distinguished honors.
Anderson on USCA President's Honor List
Jesslyn Brooke Anderson achieved the President's Honor List status at the USC Aiken for the fall semester of the 2009-2010 academic year.
Anderson is a 2008 graduate of North Augusta High School.
President's list recognition is given to those students earning 12 or more credited semester hours with a grade-point average of 4.0 for the semester.
Anderson is the daughter of Rusty and Donna Anderson of North Augusta.
Security Federal Bank promotes two
Beverly Nettles has been promoted to assistant vice president/corporate secretary for Security Federal Bank. She has been with Security Federal for four years and was previously employed with attorneys Robert E. Johnson and Robert L. Buchanan Jr. Nettles has lived in the Aiken area for 25 years and is currently involved with Habitat for Humanity, the Alzheimer's Association and the Aiken Salvation Army.
Connie Morgan has been promoted to assistant vice president/underwriter for Security Federal Bank's Mortgage Department. She has more than 22 years of experience in the mortgage industry and is a resident of Aiken. She has been a member of national organizations that help fight domestic violence against women and children as well as groups that fundraise to fight cancers affecting women.
Correction
Owen deployed to Afghanistan
Mark Owen was recently deployed to Afghanistan with his unit from Gainesville, Ga. He serves in the 802nd Ordnance Co.
He is the son of Rachel Rowland, formerly of North Augusta, and Johnny Owen of Augusta.
He is a graduate of North Augusta High School.
Krista Bashline to intern at MAU
Krista Bashline has joined MAU (Management, Analysis and Utilization, Inc.), a workforce solutions company, as a marketing intern for the spring of 2010.
She will be assisting the marketing department with the roll-out of MAU's 2010 initiatives.
She currently attends USC Aiken and will be graduating in May 2010 with an undergraduate degree in business administration-marketing.
Johnson completes basic
Mitchell Johnson, a 2007 graduate of North Augusta High School, successfully completed naval basic training on Jan. 9 in Great Lakes, Ill. Johnson will proceed to Monterey, Calif., to begin studies as a linguist.
He is the son of Bruce and Laurel Jones and Glen Johnson, all of North Augusta.
