Chaplain's corner:Distance zones

Social interaction specialists have observed that friends usually relate to each other at a distance of 18 inches to 4 feet.
More formal activities, such as job interviews, occur between four and 12 feet, while public speakers and dignitaries often have even more room between themselves and the audience.
Even though we generally follow these personal space behaviors in our society, we may struggle with other distance zones in our lives, such as aloofness from those we love or remoteness from the One who deeply loves us. "Draw near to God and he will draw near to you" (James 4:8).
