Traveling mercies
Embarking on a trip is often a much anticipated and exciting experience. We all benefit from a change of pace and the prospect of enjoying something new. However, the preparation period for these get-a-ways can become hectic and cause us to feel edgy, and we may depart with the fear that we left some essential detail unfinished. Pausing before leaving for a moment of silence and prayer, and reading from Psalm 121, the traveler's psalm, helps put the emphasis in the right place. "The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time and forevermore" (Psalm 121:8).
